[1]

Installation Compliance

Installation methods and procedures that do not follow the installation guide.

[2]

Exterior Use and Storage

Exterior use, storage, or exterior exposure of any kind. Highland Rib liners are meant for interior use. Defects caused by storing the product outside unwrapped in the sun, snow, or cold.

[3]

Load Bearing Capacity

Unreasonable loads on the liners. The liners are a wall and ceiling covering and not meant to be structural support beyond light materials like insulation. A vapour barrier is required as per building codes in the user’s area.

[4]

Destructive Force Damage

Damage from fire, explosions, or any other destructive force to the building.

[5]

Supporting Structures

Damage to any supporting structures or substrates attached to the liners.

[6]

Eco & Treatment Harm.

Damage, discolouring, fading, shrinkage, or disintegration caused by undue harsh environments or treatment of the liners.

[7]

Install And Remove Costs

Costs incurred from installation, removal, shipping, or disposal of liners.

Installation

Building Codes and Application: Before beginning installation, check local building codes for any special requirements. PVC liners are for indoor use only.

[General]

[Required Installation Temperature:]

Pre-Installation:

Unwrap and let sit for a minimum of 24 hours at room temperature before installation.

Installation:

Ideally, install at room temperature. Avoid installing if the interior is at cold temperatures (less than 15 degrees Celsius).

[Trim Installation]

Fasteners:

Use stainless steel white pan head screws (lengths determined by substrate – penetrate a minimum of 1” into the solid substrate).

Trim:

Trim channels support the liners. Standard J-trim (popular option for the top and bottom of the wall and sides of the ceiling) / Inside Corners F-trim / Transition H-trim / Bottom Base Trim.

Trim Length Adjustments:

Use standard tin snips to cut trim as the best option. Use care with power saws as trim is light and cutting is unstable and also chipping may occur.

Trim Installation:

Fasten every 12”. It is recommended to pre-drill holes into the Highland Rib trim to allow for expansion and contraction. Do not over-fasten or fasten the screw tightly against the trim and allow a bit of room for expansion and contraction.

[Liner Installation]

Fastening:

Fasten in every second rib valley (for 3” ribbed liner) and every single valley (for 9” ribbed liner) in rows 24” apart. Use stainless steel white pan head screws (lengths determined by substrate – penetrate a minimum of 1” into the solid substrate). Be sure to fasten the rib valley section resting on the wall, not the rib that has space between the liner and wall. Do not over-fasten. It is recommended to pre-drill holes slightly larger in diameter than the screw but less in diameter than the screw head, into the Highland Rib liner to allow for expansion and contraction. Do not over-fasten or fasten the screw tightly against the trim and allow a bit of room for expansion and contraction. Allow 1/8” clearance at each end of the liner inserted into the trim. If required to be 100% watertight, use screws with washers.

Liner Length Adjustments:

Recommended to use standard tin snips, fine-toothed hand saw, or power saw. If using a power saw, be sure the blade is fine-toothed and cut at a slow speed to avoid chipping. Using a standard circular saw blade in reverse direction can be effective. Another option is the use of a vinyl siding circular saw blade.

Overlapping:

Side by side liners, overlap one rib. End to end liners, overlap 4”.

[Installation Guidelines]

Wall Installation:

Slide liners into or onto the trim. If installing vertically, be sure to measure from the adjacent far wall to the liner at both the top and bottom of the liner to ensure the liner is parallel with the wall. Also, check with a level. If installing horizontally, start measuring from the ceiling down to the two ends of the liner to ensure the liner is parallel with the ceiling. Start at the bottom of the wall to allow for water to drain downward. Cut the length as required.

Ceiling Installation:

Run liners perpendicular to ceiling joists. Follow the same steps as wall installation. Where more than one liner is required to cover the ceiling length, be sure to overlap the ends of the liners by 4”.

Accommodating Windows, Doors, and Holes:

Use suitable trim around doors and windows and cut liners accordingly. For holes, use a jigsaw, tin snips, or holesaw to cut the required shape.

[Care and Maintenance]

Be careful having heating sources directed right towards the liners or near the liners. Allow a 24” gap between the liner and heating sources. Keep the room at a constant temperature similar to when the liners are installed. Although chemical resistant, take care when using chemicals or epoxies near the liners as a reaction is possible.
